Common Mistakes

As an experienced professional entertainment company we know there are things you should be aware of.  They include:

Budgeting the entertainment last.

People do not talk about the linens or the matchbook covers after the event.  They only remember if they had a good time.  You should not be spending more on relish trays than on the entertainment.  Entertainment is one of the key elements of your event.  You should be considering this at the beginning of your budget process, not as an afterthought.

Booking a company that does not carry back up equipment on site.

A company may advertise they have backup equipment.  If they do not bring it to the event and have it immediately available, your event will grind to a halt.  If it is at some distant warehouse, time at your party will be lost to travel time.  If it is in the truck, it is probably going to take at least a half an hour for them to get to their vehicle, unload it, bring it into the venue and swap it out.

It is not enough to bring backups of key items.  If they are not bringing a back up of every piece of equipment, cable and cord, you have a real risk of equipment failure.

We bring a backup of every piece of equipment to our events.  You should make this a condition of hiring them and part of the contract.

Hiring a compay where the owner does not regularly work events.

We know the only way we can ensure our staff is fully trained and providing the level of service you expect, is by working side by side with them on a regular basis. Flipbooks are a complicated process.  We want to ensure our staff knows not only how to run the event, but what to do if there is a technical problem.

Hiring a compay where the owner does not personally check the equipment for your events.

If the equipment is left in the hands of the staff, and the owner does not even see it after an event how can he know if it is in event ready condition?  Why would you want to hire a company where the business model is not to be involved with every aspect of your event.  If they don’t care enough to talk to you before the event, what kind of service will you receive after they have your check?

Hiring a company who misrepresents what they can do at your event.

See our THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT FLIPBOOKS page.

Hiring a company who uses substandard equipment.

Your event is important.  You want the product produced at the event to last.  Your provider should be proud of the equipment they are using and be willing to tell you about it.  If your provider is not using professional grade equipment, then you likely are not getting the best product possible.  Professionals use professional equipment and can explain the differences.

Hiring a company who is not properly licensed and insured.

Are you willing to risk your home, or business and time spent with lawyers defending yourself because your provider that is not properly insured?  Do you realize if your provider is not paying workmens compensation you could be held responsible if a staff member is injured?  What happens if a guest is injured?

Chosing your provider based on price alone.

You cannot get the day if your event back.  Price alone should not be the reason you select your provider.
